PRIVACY, IN PLAIN LANGUAGE

Privacy policy

Your files and photos do not need to pass through the developer. Here is how the app, browser and website handle data.

1. Scope and developer

This policy covers the KimDrop iPhone app, its bundled local-network browser interface, and this official website. KimDrop is developed by Kimball. Effective September 26, 2026.

2. No app usage data collected by the developer

KimDrop requires no account and includes no advertising, usage analytics or cross-app tracking SDKs. The developer does not receive your files, photos, videos, access codes, connection history or usage activity. The app operates no public file relay, storage or content-distribution service.

3. On-device data and local transfers

Files you import, create or upload into the app are kept in its storage on iPhone. Favorites, activity records, language, sharing permissions and access-code preferences are stored locally. When you start sharing, iPhone runs a local HTTP server that provides app files and authorized photo-library content to a browser you authorize with the access code. File contents, names and photo information transfer between your devices in response to your actions. Session identifiers, local IP addresses and timestamps are processed locally to validate sessions, display connections and limit incorrect login attempts. They are not sent to the developer.

4. Local Network and Photos permissions

Local Network access enables a browser on the same network to connect to iPhone. Photos access enables browsing, export, saving and confirmed deletion of photos or videos. Limited access restricts available items. You can change or revoke permissions in iOS Settings. If an original is stored only in iCloud, Apple Photos may download it over the internet when requested, under Apple’s service and privacy rules. App-file features remain available when Photos access is denied.

5. Browser storage

The local browser interface uses a session cookie for authentication and may store language, cached favorites and login-state indicators locally. Your browser may also cache pages or opened resources. This storage supports local functionality, not advertising or cross-site tracking. Sign out and clear site data for the local address to remove it. Stopping sharing does not delete files already downloaded to a computer.

6. Connection security

Local HTTP transfers are not encrypted in transit. An access code restricts access but is not encryption. Use a trusted private network, do not forward the sharing port to the public internet, and do not publish your address or code. You can enable browser read-only mode, disable write permissions, revoke sessions or stop sharing.

7. Retention and deletion

App files and local settings remain until you delete the relevant content or remove the app. System backups may be subject to your iOS/iCloud settings. Photo-library items, computer downloads and copies in other apps remain separately and must be deleted separately. Sessions become invalid on expiry, revocation, stopping sharing or termination of the app process. The developer holds no copy of your app content and cannot read or recover it for you.

8. Website and support email

This website is hosted on GitHub Pages and embeds no advertising or visitor-analytics scripts. GitHub processes network request information, including IP-address logs, under its privacy statement when you visit. This is separate from local app transfers. If you email support, the developer receives the email address and content you choose to provide, uses it to respond and troubleshoot, and retains it only as reasonably needed for those purposes or legal obligations. Do not send sensitive files. You may request deletion of support correspondence using the address below.

9. Other apps and children

When you choose system sharing, open a file in another app, use Apple services or follow external links, those services apply their own privacy rules. KimDrop is a general-purpose file utility and does not seek to collect personal information from children.

10. Changes and contact

This page and its effective date will be updated when features or data practices change. For privacy questions or requests to delete support correspondence, contact Kimball at bovvge@gmail.com.
